This is the 21st century, and the 21st century has kaleidoscope glasses. I tried a pair on at The New Museum on the Bowery and instantly felt a strong connection towards buying them. I didn't follow through at the time, because I couldn't justify spending $100 on glasses that would serve little to no purpose. But I was wrong, they do serve a purpose- an indescribable, eye opening purpose.
Future Eyes is an LA based brand that sells a range of handmade kaleidoscope glasses with their own individual finishes. I bought the Portals ($50), which create an infinite circular/spiral effect. The one issue I have is that the glasses are pretty heavy, so they often slide down the bridge of my nose. They're clearly not made for longtime wear, but the visions you see definitely make up for it.
